Clinton College Welcomes the Furman College Advising Corps
July 15, 2024
On Wednesday, July 10, 2024, Clinton College welcomed the Furman College Advising Corps for a campus visit to learn more about the intimate environment and beloved community.
The Furman College Advising Corps places well-trained recent college graduates in under-resourced communities to establish a stronger college-going tradition. Emphasis is placed on increasing the rate of college enrollment and completion among low-income, first-generation college and under-represented students. The advisers serve in rural Lancaster and Chester Counties.
Several staff members from Clinton College led by Clifford Smith, Director of Admissions engaged the advisers in a “Speed Knowledge” session where the advisers were paired, in rotation, with a Clinton staff member for two minutes and given an opportunity to ask questions and discover the best elements of the institution in a fast paced, speed dating format. Following a video presentation the advisers experienced a campus tour witnessing the student focused facilities including the Digital Library, Academic Center for Excellence, and student center.
“We really enjoyed the engaging energy of the campus. From the faculty and staff, the beautiful grounds, and even the smiling students, we can really sense the family atmosphere here” stated Savannah Crosby of the Advising Corps.
